What is wrong with my Corel Painter Essentials 4 program?

There are NO other brushes available in the drop down window when I click on the paintbrush. I can only use the automatic one. No pencils, paint...anything. Should i un-instal/re-instal? By the way, I have a Mac. Thanks for helping!
