Do tennesse walking horses have a tendence to alwas want to be ahead of other horses while riding?

They have a tendency to be ahead of non-gaited horses. They can be taught to slow it down and match the pace of a typical stock horse, but this defeats the purpose of riding a gaited horse in many gaited horse-people's opinion. It's not so much they want to be in front, they just walk faster.
